The mother of a 13-year-old boy who died while swimming at a popular Gold Coast swimming hole says she doesn’t know “how I’m going to get through it.”
Aiden Braumann was swimming at Cedar Creek Falls in the Gold Coast hinterland with a friend while under adult supervision about 5pm on Thursday.
According to police, the two boys “got into trouble” and Aiden failed to return to shore. Emergency services were called a short time later.
Specialist police, as well as Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Ambulance commenced a ground and water search which went well into the night.
His body was found by police divers and swift water rescue teams just after 10pm.
Aiden’s mother, Sherry Carroll, first wrote on Facebook about 7pm, pleading for information on her missing son.
“All his friends say he just disappeared,” she wrote.
Hours later, after receiving the news her son had died, she wrote how much she loved him.
“This is the hardest thing and (I) don’t know how I’m going to get through it my son, Aiden Braumann. I love you so much,” she said.
